Slow-cooked beef and vegetable pie

Slow-cooked beef and vegetable pie

Mmm, pie. This family-friendly dish of beef braised in veal stock and crushed tomatoes, with a healthy serving of roast vegetables tucked under its golden, butter-puff pastry lid, is the kind of food we all want to return to on a brisk winter’s evening, rubbing our hands as the aroma of baking pastry fills the house. Buttered mash on the side is probably compulsory but a hunk of crusty bread wouldn’t be out of place.

To Serve

Buttered mash or crusty bread would be good with the pie's delicious gravy, as would a baked potato. There are plenty of vegetables in the pie but a green salad with a nice, sharp dressing is always welcome with pastry.

    No fatty filler

Highly recommend this pie as it’s nice and meaty and full of flavour. The crunchy pastry on top was perfect.

    Delicious

Comfort food at its best. Tastes like I’d slaved away for hours in the kitchen.

    Excellent

Hi ladies the pie was beautiful. I really enjoyed. Thank you.

This is probably not the right place but I was wondering if ounhad given any thought to halving the dinners for two...2 serves.

Cook and cut in half and freeze.

It is such a shame there are lots out there who dine alone. The pie was beautiful as I said above but the next night I didn't think and heated in microwave. Bad choice. Please reply if you receive this.. ty 😊
