Boscaiola sauce for pasta

A kinda old-school pasta sauce (bacon and mushroom with sweet green peas and, hang on, is that a splash of cream?) that reminds us just how simply yummy the classics can be. Toss it through a wide ribbon pasta, dish it up with a salad of bitter greens to complement the creamy sauce and watch it get wolfed down.

To Serve

This kind of sauce works well with a wider ribbon pasta, like fettucine or pappardelle, but there would be no shame in serving it with a chunky shape like penne or fusilli. A colourful vegetable gnocchi like pumpkin or spinach would also be delicious. Whatever the carb of choice, finish with some extra Parmesan, a good grind of pepper and serve a salad on the side, ideally with some bitter leaves like radicchio or endive into the mix.

Ingredients

Cream (milk), mushroom (17%), bacon (14%) (pork 97%, salt, mineral salt (450), sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrite, water), onion, peas, water, chicken stock (water, free range chicken bones, onions, carrot, celery and bay leaves), parmesan cheese (milk, salt, cultures, non-animal rennet), olive oil, butter (cream (milk)), dijon mustard (sulphites), garlic, parsley, plain flour (wheat), thyme, salt

    Lives up to the hype!

The Dinner Ladies has been recommended to me for awhile, and I'm so glad we finally placed an order. Everything has been incredible. So yum.

My only issue is with cost/value for money. Portions are small and price is a bit high. However, the exceptional taste/quality is not to be ignored.

Also, would love if the sauces that are listed as '3 portions' could instead be offered for 4.

    Perfect!

A very delicious and comforting sauce. I used it with gnocchi which was a perfect combination.
