Goan prawn curry with tamarind and coconut

Our take on a Southern Indian recipe, this is a saucy little curry, with a lip-smacking base blending tomato, tamarind and coconut, a little green chilli (add more to fire up) and uncooked prawns that gently cook through as the curry heats. Dish up over coconut rice, with some warm flatbread to scoop up any last remnants of sauce.  

To Serve

Throw in a handful of baby spinach or any blanched green vegetable for the quickest of green additions and serve over coconut or steamed basmati rice, with fresh coriander and a squeeze of lime. This is a saucy curry – make sure you have plenty of flatbread to mop up the sauce.

Defrost fully, then empty into a saucepan and place over gentle heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is piping hot and the prawns are just cooked and opaque.

    I love this dish because it's extremely quick to prepare and can done at the very last minute. The prawns are always plump and generously apportioned - very happy with the sauce which soaks up a lot of rice.

    A perfect curry for a cold night!

    Easy and quick to heat up. We added buk choy to include some greens (as recommended on the box). We were surprised that it tasted like a curry delivered from a restaurant with the right balance of spices! Very happy!
